A Plain-English Checklist for Every Job Description

Before you publish a job description, run it through this list. If you answer 'no' to any of them, the JD is doing less work than it should.

1. Is the job title the title used inside the company? 2. Does the first paragraph describe the actual work, not the company mission? 3. Are 'must have' and 'nice to have' clearly separated? 4. Have you removed every metaphor (rockstar, ninja, guru)?

5. Is the salary range stated? 6. Is the location and remote policy unambiguous? 7. Is the application process described step by step? 8. Have you offered a contact for accommodations?
