Offering Accommodations Without Forcing Disclosure
4 min read
Many candidates will not disclose autism or ADHD during hiring, often for very good reasons. So 'let us know if you have a disability' rarely produces useful information.
Instead, offer accommodations by default: 'questions sent 24 hours in advance', 'option to do the technical task asynchronously', 'breaks between rounds'. Then add: 'tell us if anything else would help you do your best work.'
You get the access without forcing the disclosure.
